“WH” WORDS.
There is a set of English words which are known as “wh” words. They are used in making questions. We can make questions with the help of helping verbs. These words can be used with any tenses. We have nine such words, let us now understand the use.
WHO
For person
Who is your brother?
Make three questions for each.
WHAT
For things,
What is your profession?
What’s your designation?
WHY
For reason
Why are you laughing?
Why have you left your job?
WHERE
For places.
Where are you coming from?
Where is your brother?
When
For time
When did you come to the class?
When are you going Kerala?
When are you getting married?
WHOM
It is used with FOR.TO and WITH.It is also used independently.
Whom is she speaking to?
Whom did you meet there?
Whom is she preparing food?
WHOSE.
For person.
Whose book is this?
Whose shirt are you wearing?
Whose purse has got stolen?
Whose notes are you copying?
HOW
For manner.
How did you come here?
How is your life?
How is Remya doing in studies?

WHICH.
Which subject did you like most?
Which hospital are you working in?
Fill up the blanks with the suitable  word.
  1. ____________do you go for swimming?
  2. ____________are you asking such a useless question?
  3. ___________is she feeling now?
  4. __________car is she driving?
  5. __________ does she appear for next exam?

“Wh” words as relative pronouns(compound sentences)
We use “wh” family as links to join or relate phrases.
Eg .           I met a person who dressed up like a beggar.
                  I know where I have to go.
                  She doesn’t know what to do after IELTS.
                  I had a cat which was so cute.
                  I do not know the reason why the N.S scolds me always.
                  I  know  Mr.Jhon whose brother was murdered last year.
                 Whoever  you may be,I can’t accept what you said about him.
                 Some people performs well wherever they go.
                  You can visit us whenever you wish.
